Chiropractic for Infants and Children
In what is considered a "normal delivery," an estimated 60-90 pounds of force is used on an infant's neck. This can certainly cause damage to a child's spine and nervous system. After delivery, your infant should be taken to a pediatric chiropractor to have his/her spine assessed. Adjustments to an infant are much different than an adult's or even an older child's adjustment. No more pressure is used than that of which you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato. Dr. Brianna has a passion for treating children, especially infants and toddlers. In most cases, infants only require a few visits before they show improvement. Wellness visits for infants should take place at all major milestones: birth, rolling over, sitting up, and walking. These are the times in the child's life that his/her spine is developing most rapidly and it is important to ensure proper development of the nervous system.
As your child grows and develops, it is important to maintain a healthy spine and nervous system. Kids in elementary school and older should be assessed by a chiropractor at least once a year for wellness, more if they are participating in contact sports.
