Benefits of Wellness Care

Wellness is a very important part of your health care plan. The term “wellness” is gaining traction in the media and is a hot buzzword right now. But, what exactly is wellness and how does one benefit from it? The American Chiropractic Association defines wellness as “an active process that promotes health and enhances quality of life.” Note the words active process and quality of life. We expect you to be actively involved in your health care by performing the exercises we give you, following your care plan, and implementing lifestyle and nutritional changes. We are also concerned about your functionality and work hard to improve your quality of life. We do this by setting goals with you at your very first visit. These goals may be as simple as walking with no pain, to being able to pick up your children at the end of the day, to something like running a marathon or climbing a mountain. As chiropractors, we look at wellness care differently than other practitioners. The allopathic medical model sees wellness as merely the absence of symptoms of a disease. We see it as not only the resolution of disease, but also as living to your full potential.
